Has anybody noticed any mental confusion or short term memory problems while on these meds?

Most Definitely. I quit taking both of these meds as they put me in a haze or I would just simply forget things.

I have a prescription for baclofen for tone but have been afraid to fill it after reading about the side effects on the Internet.
Is there anything better?

To tmasgio: so what do you take?
Lyrica and for those of you taking Neurontin, has the possibility of new tumor formation (hemangiosarcoma) in animal studies...GREAT something else to worry about!

I take Lyrica. The 'fuzzyheadedness' does calm down a bit after you have been on it for a while. It doesn't go completely though and I do find at certain times of day I crave a 30 minute catnap to recharge. Personally I couldn't go without Lyrica for the nerve damage to my left arm. Even with medication it's hard work to tollerate at times, but an increase in Lyrica above 300mg a day tips me over the edge of coping with the side effects of the tablets.

I do not take any form of medication at this time. I try to manage the tone and the pain by daily stretching and exercise. I find this works alot better for me personally. All of the medications I tried did nothing for my symptoms. They included Ultram,Amrix,Flexeril,Soma/Cymbalta/Neurontin/Lyrica.

I agree with Alison. I take Lyrica and had a lot of side effects at first, but either they've subsided or I've gotten used to them and they don't bother me any more. I take 450 mg/day of Lyrica which is a pretty high dosage - been on that since late January.
I'm still trying to figure out if anything will calm the pain, burning, etc in my feet. Lyrica does help me (and helped more than Neurontin did). I have just started adding in nortriptyline at a very low dose (10 mg each night). For the first few days, no side effects, but the past two days I've found it difficult to wake up in the morning and I have a somewhat hungover feeling (without nausea and without the fun of the drinks!!). I haven't noticed any significant improvement yet on the pain side so I will see.
Tony - I didn't know anything about the Lyrica causing new tumor formation in animal studies - where did you find that info?? I'd love to read up on that one...

I have been taking a low dose of baclofen (10mg 3xday) for over two years. When I first started taking is it really made me sleepy. But eventuyally that side effect diminished. I have not noticed that it effected my cognitive abilities (of course those may have already been damaged in college!).
