I have the same problem but it's erratic. my intestines are not the same. i cycle from being bloated, to being constipated, diarrhea, it's never the same. I think i have section of bowl that's not working right and I get partial blockages that clear out, then block up, then clear out. I'm trying to watch and see if my diet can be tweaked to help. I periodically have to take vicodin, when i do, i can expect to be constipated.

I have not had surgery yet and have only been recently diagnosed, but I have had mild to moderate chronic constipation for a long time, probably related to my tumor. The medication I'm on for pain and inflammation has only made it worse.
I have stumbled upon something in the last week that has helped me; greens drink powder. I started making smoothies for breakfast because it was fast and used a 'greens' powder in them. Greens powder is available at health food stores (like Whole Foods) and comes in flavors. I've been using berry flavor in my smoothies and also make a hot chocolate with it sometimes. I'm much more regular now.

I've been dealing with this for four plus years. I was finally sent to a nutritionist who shared with me a diet they use for gastroparesis in diabetics because the Reglan I was taking had terrible side effects. One thing they said was to limit fiber intake because it only makes it worse. I googled gastroparesis diet and found a lot of suggestiona on foods to eat and foods to avoid. They also said that eating six small meals a day to help the symptoms. So far it's helping but now I need to drop some meds that cause symptoms.

I have quite the opposite. I can't feel when I have to go well aside from pressure so I have had accidents periodically since about 3 months presurgical. I am now 14 months post surgical.

I have the same constipation problem. I take stool softeners twice a day and senna at night times. I also take movical. Even with these I am still only going around 7-10 days. My stomach swells so I look pregnant, but I also feel a bit unwell with it. My problems with my bowel started before I was diagnosed, I felt like they had stopped working over night.

Gastroparesis, it's what happens to your GI tract with nerve damage (neuropathy) with diabetes. I wonder if that is what we are all experiencing with all the nerve damage that happens in our situations? Just a though. Kathy Ependymoma C3-C7 February 2010: Eric Sipos; Tucson, AZ
