Dr. Jallo emailed me after he reveiwed my disks he stated that I should get an exam at a clinic near me as he is not convinced my symptoms are caused my the either the cavernoma or chiari without an extensive exam. I asked several questions and he answered only a couple of them. He did say that he is not entirely convinced that it is a cavernoma and said if the next mri is inconclusive he feels an angiogram would be helpful. Does anyone know what an angiogram entails or what other type of tumor would bleed and leave a bloodspot in the spinal cord.
You all are so much more informed than I am and I am hoping someone can give me some insight.. Thanks Dawn

Dr. Paul McCormick a neurosurgeon and is located at Columbia Pres. Hospital in NYC. He is the head of the Spinal Center. He has extensive experience with spinal tumors, chiari, etc. The hospital as well is just the best when it comes to neurology. He is always in the Best Doctors and is world reknown. He speaks all over the world. He is not far from upstate NY. His number is 212-305-7976. Mary Issacson is the contact person there. Ask for her. She will guide you thru everything. She was and is still a godsend with my family. My husband has been thru 3 surgeries with Dr. Mccormick and his team and he has literally saved his life. If you need any further info, just let me know. Best of luck. You will be in good hands.

Dawn, I am so happy that Barb is near you and also for the referral of Dr McCormick. So Dr Jallo wasn't convinced. At least you talked with him and got some questions answered. Betty

Worriedwife, Thank you so very much for the information. I may contact them and see if this dr. would be willing to look at my films. My ins finally approved another mri and I have an appt on Wednesday. I am hoping they can get some good pictures. I also have an appt with a highly regarded surgeon here at Millard Filmore in a couple of weeks. I would just like to know for sure what it is and what to do with it...
Betty, Yes Barb is awesome, she has been through a lot recently and must be a very strong person. We have chatted a few times. Also I read your post about a neurologist. I love my neurologist. My primary physician is just a family doc and I find that he isn't up to date on a lot of things. He actually tries to give me scripts for meds for anxiety and antidepressants etc etc. My neuro seems to go the extra mile and look for other answers before trying to write that script, so I suppose it is what you are comfortable with. I would think the neuro would be better at understanding your the symptoms you are having more so than a family doc would. i hope you are doing well. I will keep you updated on my results. Then maybe someone here can enlighten me more when and if I find out exactly what I have in my cord..lol Thank you so much for all of your kind words..Dawn
