Hi, I posted here a few times about my partners spinal cord tumour. He has been back to see his surgeon for his check up. Seeing as though his symptoms have progressed they want to do another biopsy to be 100% sure that he has a intremedullary astrocytoma low grade (the firs biopsy showed two positive for a low grade tumour but the third came back inconclusive) he has said that the next step will be radiotherapy (it's impossible to remove because it's intertwined in the spine) my partner said he didn't want another biopsy as the odds are the same for getting an inconclusive result so he could be in the same position (although most likely worse off as the first biopsy left him numb from the waist down with spasticity and in a lot more pain) so his sergon has said he needs an appointment with the neurologist again to see wether he is in agreement along with the radiotherapy department to go ahead with the radiotherapy with out the second biopsy. He has been send for another MRI which is standard so they can check what's going on. But he had also been send for a chest ct scan? No explanation as to why and he hasn't an appointment with the neurologist untill after the ct scan which is a fair way away. I don't know why they'd need one of his chest as he had an MRI before his biopsy to rule out it being a secondary one from the brain or lungs? Any advice or help would be much appreciated. He has also been to have an X-ray for possible pneumonia as he has had a recurring cough for over two months. Just one thing after another. We are hoping for some good news soon!
