I am trying to get information from those who have been diagnosed with spinal cancer. I am currently being screened for spinal cancer. I have the symptoms of spinal cancer and was diagnosed with arthritis in S1, L3/4/5. Ive been told that majority of people with spinal cancer were misdiagnosed with arthritis because it looks the same. How true is that for those of you here?
My symptoms started around a year and half ago in lower back. Came for a week, left for couple months, came back for few weeks, left for about 2 weeks, then came back and stayed. Everything has gotten worse. Just 4 months ago, I was still playing ice hockey on pain killer and suffered for a day or two after but loosened back up. Now I can barely go anywhere without my cane. It feels like someone is shoving a cattle prod in my spine. Is this a normal feeling?
The pain meds help with the muscle pain around my vertebrae and in my legs. I have also just recently started getting tingling sensation in my finger tips and my hands feel swollen and sore. Along with bouts of nausea that come and go.
My lab tests have come back abnormal and then normal and then abnormal again. My imaging has come back clean with the exception of the "arthritis". It feels like it has moved further up my spine and now where the pain first started in the S1, L5 area, the actual bone now feels like its bruised and very sensitive. I can't sleep through the night due to the pain from tossing and turning at night. Does anyone have any ideas that help them sleep at night or provides some relief?
Is there anyone that can help provide some answers, insight, and any ideas? Things I might need to talk to doc about that I haven't thought of? I dont want to jump right in to this scenario/ possibility. Im just going with the flow until my docs can verify whether it is or is not cancer. Ive tried looking up information online, but nothing has provided me with answers to some of my questions like being misdiagnosed, imagery issues, and what not. Any help from those with personal knowledge would be appreciated.
