My mother (59 y/o) had gait problems since a year along with tingliness and weakness of limbs. A MRI revealed a lesion at the C5-C6 level. It was operated on ("C5,C6 laminectomy and excision of lesion") about ago (23, Feb, 2015) The doctor was satisfied with the operation and said the schwannoma was completely removed. She has been undergoing physiotherapy since, and sit up on her own. However, she is able to walk just a little bit with the help of a walker. My questions:
1. What is the approximate recovery time for this kind of an operation 2. Is complete rehabilitation and leading a 'normal' life possible 3. Can using the walker cause some sort of dependence and thus reduce mobility 4. Is it normal to be moody/irritable in this phase 5. What can we do to support her and ensure she recovers well 6. She tires out quite easily. Should we urge her to try being more active and trying to walk etc. or should it be given more time
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your kindness
