Just thought I'd post another little update. Still doing well. I recently started going to physio to try getting my arm to work better and to loosen up my neck and shoulder. I returned to work full time at the beginning of January, which was very tiring at first but after a couple weeks I was fine. My neck was very sore from sitting at my desk all day but that has improved considerably. There's still a lot I can't do, like run, but I'm hoping when winter finally decides to leave us I can get outside and do more exercising. Overall I don't think my normal every day life is affected too much.
I had an MRI about two weeks ago and haven't heard anything so I'm assuming there's been no change to the residual tumor. I'm seeing my surgeon in a month for my 6-month follow-up post-surgery. I'm hoping that will be my least scary appointment with him lol.
Take care everyone!

Keep working hard drex. It all gets better as time goes by. Keep pushing yourself to MOVE. The more you move the better you will feel. That was my experience anyway, though it took me over a year to figure that out! Take care.

I definitely find that as well, I've been sick with a cold this weekend so haven't been up to much and I am so stiff. I also get a bit of numbness in my lower legs and feet if I'm not active. I'm so looking forward to the warm weather so I can get outside!

Hello, I had my surgery for an ependymoma (C2-T1) 35 yrs ago, your story reminded me of those few early months. I hope that telling you that after 35 years without re-growth will brighten your future outlooks. Take care of yourself and exercise has much as you can...:-)\

Thanks Drew, that's great that you haven't had regrowth after 35 years!! Was your tumor fully resected?
Just thought I'd post another update. My MRI results were good, no change to the tumor. I was referred to a radiation oncologist and was told that radiation and chemotherapy are not proven to be effective on this type of tumor when it's in the spine. Since it's in the cervical spine it's too risky to have any more damage done to it. I was so happy to hear that, the last thing I wanted was radiation to my neck. So basically I'm just having an MRI every 6 months for the forseeable future and hoping it doesn't grow!
I've seen more improvement to my arm and shoulder stiffness with the help of physio, I even managed to do some jogging the other week. It felt a little awkward but not too bad! I'm getting there slowly but surely!

Hi vicky, Considering that you had a good outcome from the surgery could you please confirm if your tumor was intramedullary and at what level? do you have any post surgery deficits?
