Hi Tami, my husband may have ependymoma, which is why I am on this site. But thought some information I have about myself might be helpful to your situation. About 20 years ago I was in an auto accident that caused upper back and neck injuries. To this day I have muscle stiffness and tightness that can be painful and affect movement of my neck. I finally found a doctor who is a Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation). She gives me Trigger Point Injections that loosen up my muscles for months at a time. In fact, I go maybe once a year now and have an injection. It has changed my life! I also know of a neurologist who does the same thing. I believe there are a couple of different medications used (although I don't have the names); she used the more natural one of the two. Another inexpensive thing I do is buy Thermacare (or generic) heat pads for my back/shoulder area. This a pad with adhesive that actually heats like a heating pad and lasts all day. The heat keeps muscles warm and loosens them up when I have brief flare up. Without these treatments, I would have extreme muscle pain reaching into my chest and down my arms (from my trapezoid muscles). I hope this helps!

Just discovered this board. Tami, my mom is about 5 weeks after her cervical ependymoma resection (C3). she too has experienced similar issues to what you described (at the 5 week mark at least). she feels like every muscle below her neck is contracting vigorously and painfully. it is unbearable and brings her to tears. did you find anything that helped eventually?
